The monastery of Ystad

Franciscan monastery from 1267 and today consists of the Abbey Church and the Eastern monastic wing, in which Ystad’s historical museum is housed. Herb Garden, Rosaria, cabbage patch, and peony garden next to the pond Museum shop with local crafts.

Brösarps Backar

The undulating nature offers enjoyable hiking or why not go a on an old steam train that runs between Brösarp and St. Olaf. The adjacent rest area is awarded the best resting place in Skåne 2007th by the Automobile Association.

Glimmingehus

Glimmingehus is the best preserved medieval castle in the Nordic region. The castle was originally built as representative residence for the Danish knight Jens Holgersen Ulfstrand when southern Sweden still belonged to Denmark. Today the castle is the center of medieval enthusiasts and a popular destination for turist. Every summer they hold The 10 000 Knight’s Day.

Cinema

Cineteket in Ystad is a film center next to Ystad Studios where, among other movies the Wallander movies were recorded. Cineteket are exhibition, shop and cafe - all about film and movies. At the Hasse & Tage museum you find goodies from these two celebrities in Swedish film and theatrical history.

Havängsdösen

Havängsdösen is an old stone coffin and burial site at Haväng built by the first farmers over 5,000 years ago. Bones and axes made of flint have been found during excavations. There is also a small outdoor museum and a wonderful sandy beach. The site has inspired many artists who have been seduced by the moon over Haväng.

The Kingsgrave

A mighty grave in Kivik from the Bronze Age, which is 3.5 meters high and 75 feet in diameter. The grave is called "Bredarör". Someone unusually important person must have had this grand funeral for over 3000 years ago.

Stenshuvuds National Park

Sweden’s southernmost national park offers great hiking and 97 meter high observation deck towards the ocean, beaches and apple orchards. The visitors center ”Naturum” is an exhibition describing the park’s fauna and flora. The beach here is superb and on a clear day you can see the Danish island of Bornholm.

Verkeåns National Park

This national park has a rich bird life where you can find Kungsfiskare, dippers and forsärlor. You can also see the trout moving upriver to lay their eggs. At Hallamölla you will find Skåne’s highest waterfall, which measures more than twenty meters.
