La Coruna - Do & See
Torre De Hercules
Probably the world’s oldest light house. It was build by the Romans in the 2nd century and it well worth a visit. It provides an amazing history and an excellent overview of La Coruna. Open daily from 10am to at least 6pm.
Ciudad Vieja
Ciudad Vieja is a compact zone constituting most of the old La Coruna which dates back to before the mid-19th century. It is also in this area you will find the city’s flamboyant and unmistakable landmark, ayuntamiento.
Museo de Bellas Artes
This innovative building features a brilliant art gallery with works by Rubens and etchings by Goya. There is also an impressive collection of 16th and 17th century European paintings.
The Beaches
La Coruna’s coastline offers a stunning 30 kilometres of sandy beaches. Playa de Riazor and Playa de Orzan are conveniently close to the city and are also protected beaches. In the summer, buses regularly go from town centre to the fabulously sandy Playa de Baldaio.
Castelo de San Anton
This 12th century fortress is keeping a watch over the port and the old town of La Coruna. Today it houses a Museo Arque-ol?gico with some rather incongruous ancient Egyptian pieces through Roman and Visigothic artefacts to more recent times. Open daily from 10am to 9pm in the summer.
