Casa Conrado
Reservations are advised for dinner at this long-established restaurant next to the Cathedral, which is famous for its regional dishes including fabada and for seafood dishes. The fixed price menu costs 35 euros and à la carte choices start at around 15 euros.
Del Arco
Del Arco’s seasonally changing menu includes meat and seafood treats such as grilled lobster and roast hake. The excellent dishes are complemented by a compendious wine cellar. Expect to pay up to 40 euros.
Raitan
This is an excellent place to sample the best regional dishes, with up to nine different typical specialities to choose from each day and a menu that changes depending on what seasonal ingredients are at their best and freshest. Fixed-price regional menu costs 30 euros.
Casa Laure
Casa Laure is a combination of cider bar – with cider from the barrel on the ground floor – and restaurant, with hearty local game, stews and seafood served in the first floor restaurant. Expect to pay around 20 euros.
La Maquina
This local favourite is around 8 km (5 miles) from Oviedo town centre, but many people find it well worth the journey to sample its famous fabada. Open only at lunchtime, where the fixed-price menu costs 30 euros and à la carte main dishes start at around 15 euros.
Casa Fermín
Hake, ham and fabada are on the menu at Casa Fermin, which is highly regarded by locals as one of Oviedo’s prime spots for regional cooking. It also serves game including boar and venison (in season) and has an excellent cheese board.
