6-7 July 2019: Stereoleto

Stereoleto (in Russian means literally Stereo Summer) based in St.Petersburg is the oldest independent international annual summer festival of contemporary and alternative music in Russia with unforgettable atmosphere, perfect music content and excellent reputation established over the years of existence of the festival. Stereoleto is designed to be a festival friendly to everyone. There’re lots of entertainments for people of all ages, including children. Areas of the festival are always equipped with the playground zones offering a large variety of activities for children – sports, games and workshops. In addition to music there are many event features as visual arts, design and variable cuisines available for all guests of the festival. 22 April - 28 April 2019: Easter Festival

One of the main religious holidays – the Holy Resurrection of Christ, or Easter –approaches. St. Petersburg traditionally prepares to celebrate the Easter Sunday with a diverse program. During the week it will be possible to visit numerous city events – festivals, fairs, concerts, master classes for children and outdoor celebration. The ceremonial opening of the festival will take place on April 16 at the square near Kazan Cathedral. Residents and guests of St. Petersburg can be sure to find something to his or her liking during the Easter holiday. An additional program specially prepared for children and their parents will help to hold the holiday fun for the whole family and won’t leave anyone indifferent.

Time to skate - Skating rinks in St. Petersburg

How to make your winter leisure time unforgettable and wholesome? Numerous skating rinks of St. Petersburg won’t let you down! Skating rink at the New Holland Island is opened during the whole winter season. People can change their clothes and left them in a cloak room, hire the skates or sharpen their own ones in a special hall. You can buy tickets online or in the ticket offices. Skating rink at the Pionerskaya Ploschad is located near the Christmas Fair where you can warm up with a tee or a ginger drink and treat yourself to Christmas delicacies from different and distant lands. Open air skating rink on the Bolshaya Ploschad in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation is a popular place where citizens and guests of Saint Petersburg get a rest. It is free. You can bring your own skates or hire them here. Skating rink in the Moskovsky Park Pobedy is situated right on the pond. You can bring your own skates or you can hire them. The entrance has no time limit: you can skate the whole day from the opening till the closure. Skating rink and Tsar Gora in Zima Leto Park of Active Recreation and Sport offers two skating rinks, huge ice slide about 6 meters high, skate and inflatable sledge rental to its guests. Mini Zoo where visitors can feed real squirrels and rabbits is open on the territory of the park. Skating rink and deer farm in Laplandia Park is open on Krestovsky Island. Here you can skate, feed the reindeers and stroll through the fair. Outdoor rink in Laplandia Park works under any weather conditions till +15 degrees. Experienced instructor is always on duty on the ice rink. The ticket price includes a deer farm tour where you can see the real reindeers.

April 2019: The Festival of Icebreakers

The world’s only Festival of Icebreakers will be held for the sixth time in Saint Petersburg in April. The event will be held in the water area of Bolshaya Neva and will involve the operating icebreakers of the North West Basin Branch of FSUE Rosmorport: Moskva, Ivan Kruzenshtern, Kapitan Sorokin. Icebreaker Krasin, branch of the Museum of the World Ocean in Saint-Petersburg, will be the flagship of the Festival. Citizens and guests of Saint-Petersburg will be able to visit the icebreakers during second-day period. The Festival programme includes tours to icebreakers, large-scale historic reenactment dedicated to the development of Arctic and the Polar Convoys during the Great Patriotic War, as well as the presentation of the today’s icebreaking fleet of Russia.

Faceless immersive show

“Faceless” is an immersive performance in which we create a completely authentic space, combine elements of classical theater and choreography, use audiovisual effects and thrash out the interactive component ... As a result, the viewer founds himself in a different dimension, where there are no usual rules, prohibitions and borders. This is an opportunity to get a completely new and very personal experience. It is simply impossible to experience the same thing, while remaining an observer in the chair. “This is a dramatized virtual reality” — tell the American film directors Mia Zanetti and Victor Karina. For five months of rehearsals, which were conducted in the strictest secrecy, the actors mastered unique methods of interaction with the audience, and dozens of secret passages and doors were built in the mansion.

6-10 February 2019: Nevsky Casket

An exhibition and fair of folk handicrafts and crafts "Nevsky casket" will be held in ExpoForum on February 6-10, 2019. The Nevsky casket is the largest event for stimulating development of the market of national art crafts and crafts and popularizing the products of national crafts and crafts among residents and guests of St. Petersburg. The project is intended to become the largest platform for development of the market of folk art crafts and crafts in order to preserve and popularize folk traditions among city dwellers and visitors.

10 March 2019: Maslenitsa

Maslenitsa is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent. People have a good time until late in the evening, eating pancakes with all kinds of fillings dancing to music groups, drinking tea, go sliding down snowy slopes or sledding. Every café and restaurant offers a special menu for Maslenitsa week, with every possible type of pancake one can imagine. The climax of Maslenitsa is when the effigy of straw Maslenitsa is burned. This is a way to mark the coming of spring. Workshops and parades take place on the main squares of the city and its suburbs.
