Pau - Essential Information

Airports

Pau Airport (Aéroport Pau Pyrénées) is located seven kilometres north of the town centre and about an hour’s drive from the Pyrenees’ ski stations and sand beaches of France’s south-west coastline.

A shuttle bus runs once a day from the airport and once a day from Pau town centre although there are plans to expand the service in the future. The service currently covers three flights as they arrive within around 20 minutes of each other. A shuttle leaves from the Pau train station at 2.25pm, also stopping at Place Clémenceau at 2.40pm and Place Verdun at 2.50pm. It arrives at the airport at 3.10pm. The shuttle from the airport leaves at 4.30pm and arrives at Pau train station at 5.20pm. A shuttle costs €5 for a single and €9 for a return. A taxi will cost €20 to €25 normally or €25 to €30 during the night and public holidays.

Public transport

Pau town centre is compact enough for you to be able to cover all the areas of interest by foot. Alternatively, the STAP bus service is a cheap and reliable option (www.contact@bus-stap.com). A single ticket, usable for an hour after validation on the whole network, costs € 1. A day ticket, allowing unlimited travel on the network is € 2,50, or a booklet of 8 tickets is € 5,50. Bicycles can be rented from Vélo Station, 9 boulevard Alsace Lorraine, tel: +33 5 59 02 27 54. Cars can be rented both at the airport and in town.
