Marseille - Eating
Marseille has a culinary menu heavily influenced by its surroundings. Fish dominates, and one dish in particular—bouillabaisse. This fish soup combines a variety of fish with saffron, fennel and orange zest. It is served with rouille, a garlic and chilli-flavoured mayonnaise. Olive oil, herbs, fresh fruit and vegetables are also abundant parts of Marseille cuisine.
Le Miramar
In the heart of the Vieux Port with all the other up-market fish restaurants, Le Miramar has established a reputation as being the place to go for bouillabaisse. La Vraie Bouillabaisse ‘Miramar’ costs €55 per person.
La Ferme
La Ferme is an oasis of calm in the centre of Marseille, the interior is beautifully decorated with frescos and pastel tones.
Les Arcenaulx
It is a diverse crowd throng to this intellectual restaurant that also functions as a bookshop, salon de thé and a Provençal produce seller. Dishes include the classic Filet de bœuf “Rossini,” and set menus start at €25.
La Cloche À Fromage
If you like cheese—and a lot of it—then this is heaven. As well as an abundance of fromages, there are ten types of house bread and plenty of regional wines.

Probably Marseille’s best eatery—boasting two Michelin stars—this delightfully modern haute-cuisine firmly rooted in southern Europe, is worth paying for.

Traditional, old school cooking and another extremely good establishment for bouillabaisse. The fish is even presented to you before cooking.
