Airport
Xi’an’s Xianyang International Airport is located northwest of the city, 45 km away from the centre. A taxi from the airport to downtown city would cost about 100-120 RMB. It is economical to take one of the airport express buses heading into town with the fee 25 RMB.
Public Transport
Xi’an railway Station is located in the Northeast of the urban area, the starting place of the Silk Road. It takes 30 minutes and about ten RMB from the station to downtown by taxi.The city metro is still under construction, thus the most popular way to tour the city is by bus. A city map would be handy though it may be a hassle for non-Mandarin speakers.

Taxi
It’s convenient and simple to travel by taxi in Xi’an. The taxis levy 6 RMB as the initial charge, subsequent miles costs between 1.2 and 1.5 RMB depending on the fuel capacity of the vehicle.
It is advised for non-Mandarin speakers to have the destination written in Chinese characters to avoid miscommunication with the drivers.
