Shenzhen - Essential Information
Airport
Shenzhen Airport is about 35 km from downtown Shenzen from where it is possible to take a taxi or bus 330 to your destination. The bus fare is RMB 20 and takes approximately 35 minutes to arrive in the city centre at Hualian Dasha. Line 1 of the metro is also in the process of extension with the airport very much on the agenda. ETA is sometime in 2010. Finally a ferry service runs to and from Hong Kong and Macao.
Public Transport
Shenzhen’s metro is relatively simple having opened less than 7 years ago. Currently divided into two lines, it is nevertheless in the process of expansion. The two existing lines (1&4) are being added to which will include taking line 1 to the airport. A new line (2) will be ready sometime in 2010 and two other lines (3&5) are slated for summer 2011. Fares vary from RMB2-5 depending on length of journey. Virtually all the major tourist destinations like Window on the World are covered by the metro.
Taxi
Taxis come in three denominations: red, green and yellow. Red taxis can go anywhere. Green taxis are only allowed outside the SEZ and yellow taxis only within the SEZ. Fares start at RMB 12.50. Make sure the driver starts the meter.

The central post office is open all day from Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 20.30 and on Saturday from 09.30 to 14.00, closed on Sunday.
