Mahjong Museum

Mahjong is one of the most popular games among the Chinese, but few knows that this noisy boisterous game of tile-matching originated in Ningbo. In the museum there is a description of the history of the game and also a display of different sets made of bones, bamboo and so on, many of them unique.

Moon Lake

Moon Lake, in the south west of Ningbo, was originally excavated in Tang Dynasty and turned into the culture and academic center during the Song and Yuan Dynasty. Nowadays it is the main leisure place for many local people to come to play chess, practice the martial art of Tai Chi, dance or just enjoy the beautiful views.

Drum Tower

The Drum Tower constructed during the Tang Dynasty is the only remaining ruins of an old city gate tower in Ningbo. At the top, there is a six metre high bell tower of western style, added in the period of the Republic. Around the base of the tower, there are old style houses that have been restored.

Tianfeng Pagoda

This is the landmark of Ningbo. It is 120 years older than Ningbo city and was during ancient times a lighthouse to direct the passing ships.

Catholic Church

The Catholic Church in the south of Tianyi Square was built in 1702 by a French missionary. This classical Gothic-style cathedral consists of a hall with 31 metres in height and two bell towers that are 66 metres high.

Three Rivers Junction (sanjiangkou)

In downtown Ningbo, there are three rivers Yuyao River, Fenghua River and Yong River, which intersect and flow into East China Sea, making this a famous beauty spot in Ningbo.

The Old Bund

Ningbo Old Bund is even older than its more famous counterpart in Shanghai. The Old Bund has witnessed the development of Ningbo as a port city, with English, French, German and Dutch styled architecture, evoking memories of the 30s and 40s in this cosmopolitan city.
