Fortunately nightlife in Macau no longer centres on the gambling establishments, although many are still a good place to down a pick me-up and enjoy fine live gigs. However there is a good choice of places to head now including the Dock’s Outer Harbour sidewalk bars on Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Do note some places are true to Mediterranean form and don’t heat up until after 1am.

Macau Soul

This place was opened by expats who wanted to share their passion for jazz with Macau. The elegant wine lounge also features fine art. Choose from a selection of wines, but you can also find Macau Beer on the list, a Euro-Asian pale lager.

Crazy Paris Show

One of Macau’s iconic shows is the leggy Crazy Paris dancing girl show in the Grand Lisboa Casino. The women strut their stuff in front of the punters every night from 4.30pm until midnight wearing little more than a few beads and feathers - definitely not one to take the kids to.

180 Lounge And Grill

For great city views to enjoy with a cocktail in hand, head to the top of the Macau Tower for, yes you guessed it, 180 degree views from 200m above the city. Live music plays nightly and full meals are available.

Moonwalker

Although it seems like a reference to the late Michael Jackson, it’s not, although you can dance your own King of Pop style to the live music Wednesday through Monday nights from 10pm. Light meals served and seating is either inside or outside.

Bellini Lounge

It might be located in Macau’s poshest casino but the stylish crowd is friendly. Lounge back in the couches and enjoy the music and fine drinks like the house specialty cocktail, the Bellini. Ladies score free drinks Wednesday nights.

Casinos

Even if gambling is not your scene, it’s worth popping into the casinos for a look at all that glitters including the world’s largest casino the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel and the central MGM Grand Macau.
